Johnny Cash (* 26. Februar 1932 in Kingsland, Arkansas; † 12. September 2003 in Nashville, Tennessee) war einer der einflussreichsten US-amerikanischen Country-Sänger und -Songschreiber. Cash war für seine markante Bassbariton-Stimme und den sogenannten „Boom-Chicka-Boom“-Sound seiner Begleitband Tennessee Three sowie seine kritischen und unkonventionellen Texte bekannt. Sein musikalisches Spektrum reichte von den fünfziger Jahren mit Country, Gospel, Rockabilly, Blues, Folk und Pop bis hin zum Alternative Country Anfang des 21. Jahrhunderts.
